A Word from the '09-'10 Pro Consul
My Brothers, Friends, and Well-Wishers,
As we, the Class of 2010, near the end of our collegiate experience, few things resound within my memory as my experience in Sigma Chi. Of the time in the chapter, the most challenging and rewarding has without a doubt been this past year as Pro Consul.
This year, we have seen our share of difficulties. With the expansion of the chapter to its present size, we have undergone some growing pains. With more brothers, there has been a spreading out effect on the work that we all must share to make this chapter great. The great Sigma Chi theory of embracing different Temperaments, Talents, and Convictions has been put to the test. Though occasionally frustrating, this trial exemplifies many that will be replayed again and again through the duration of our personal and professional lives. We, as Sigma Chi, should not only endure such challenges, but embrace them.
Not only have the fine brothers of this chapter responded to such tests, but we have thrived as well. We visited the International Headquarters in Evanston, IL to start our year. This was followed by a solid recruitment period and Derby Days. Keeping mindful of our obligations to the changing world, Derby Days presents a chance to grow and develop our reputation and philanthropy on campus, and I am confident that the event will be even better next year. Currently this spring, we have recruited well again and eagerly await the upcoming celebration of Iota Sigma’s 20th Anniversary.
In these four years, there has been much advancement for the chapter. Our brothers are now known to Sigma Chi Leaders and Alumni all across the country. We will continue to send brothers to both Balfour Leadership Training Workshop and Horizons Leadership Training Workshop, and the potential for development will continue to be explored. Our ritual is performed with exceptional accuracy; the message contained within is exemplified daily. Most importantly, the great principles of Friendship, Justice, and Learning are alive and well within the chapter.
Words can scarcely express my gratitude to everyone connected with the amazing experience that comprises this chapter. Wherever we go and whatever we do, I will never forget or want to lose touch with this special place and its Sigma Chi Chapter.
God Bless and In Hoc,
