Consul's Word- Fall 2008

Consul’s Word - October 8, 2008

My Brothers,

As we approach the halfway point of this first semester, I can’t help but be optimistic about the future of our chapter. Not only have we accomplished our goals for the beginning of the year, we’ve prepared ourselves for the upcoming months. Most importantly, it has been an entire chapter effort; not just the actions of one or two individuals.

During EC’s time at Balfour Leadership Training Workshop, we recognized that recruitment needed to be our first priority. Our recruitment chair and his committee put forth an incredible amount of effort and were rewarded for it. We have 8 new pledges this fall, one of the largest fall pledge classes any of us can remember. Most importantly, it is a group of 8 men that I look forward to completing the pledging process and calling my brothers.

Derby Days 19 has recently been completed, and like usual it was a success! We were able to escape the week injury free, and most importantly raise just under $4000 for the Children’s Miracle Network. Just as with recruitment, our Derby Daddy and many others sacrificed lots of time and energy to ensure that everything went smoothly.

One of the most exciting developments for our chapter is the work our alumni have done over the past year. Homecoming is this weekend, which means the annual ISHC board meeting is upon us. Since the last board meeting, a lot has been accomplished. I’m looking forward to hearing what the plan will be going forward and how all of us, alumni and active brothers alike, can work to realize this plan.

The future of our chapter is in good hands, and for that I am proud to be a Sig.

Guard well my Brothers,

Brad Zimmerman
Consul
