Consul's Word
My brothers,
With our 20th anniversary approaching, I can say with conviction that the Iota Sigma chapter of Sigma Chi remains resolute in our values and confident about our immediate future. Since returning to Valparaiso University, the chapter has undergone a serious self-evaluation and is attempting to implement new goals that will improve the standard to which we hold ourselves. These include new incentive programs that emphasize scholarship, creation of written transition plans for each position within the fraternity, a new website, and many other internal goals.
In addition to these objectives, the chapter has already been successful in our other endeavors this semester. Our recruitment chair, Andy Schultz, oversaw a very fruitful rush period. As a result, 5 men are currently pledging this chapter, a number which was not matched anywhere else on campus. Like the recruitment process, Derby Days XX was a great success. We had record amounts of participants and were able to raise thousands of dollars for the Children’s Miracle Network. As is evidenced by the massive support for Sigma Chi events like Derby Days, the brotherhood is continually working to maintain this chapter’s prestige and influence in the community.
While the undergraduate chapter has been striving to meet our goals, ISHC has been tirelessly working on their own. The board has just begun a new fundraising push that aims to levy funds for a chapter house. In cooperation with their vision, the undergraduate brotherhood has placed reconnecting with our alumni base at the core of our objectives this year. Only with the support of active and alumni brothers can we maintain our lofty ideals and progress towards a stronger fraternity.
With your help, my brothers, Iota Sigma will continue to prosper for years to come.
Guard Well,
Keith Liput
